about

Voice of Roma presents "Soul of the Mahala," featuring Rumen and Angel Shopov playing music from Romani ("Gypsy") neighborhoods of Southwest Bulgaria with their family, friends, and lifelong neighbors. This remarkable music, widely varied and masterfully played, springs from the deep relationships among the musicians, from their shared mahala, and from their way of life and their values as Roma (Gypsies).
